Punisher's Risky Move in Season 1
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is delivering unexpected twists with each new episode. The latest installment notably rectifies a strategic choice made by the Punisher in season 1 of the series.
A Packed Schedule for Jon Bernthal
2026 promises to be a significant year for Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. He is slated to appear in two major MCU projects: a solo series, The Punisher: One Last Kill, releasing on May 12, and his cinematic debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, hitting theaters on July 31.
Despite this busy schedule, which unfortunately prevents his direct involvement in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, the show is actively resolving a key issue stemming from his character’s earlier actions.
The Punisher's Solo Escape
The final episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 1 saw the Punisher controversially choosing to confront Mayor Kingpin’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) alone. He successfully neutralized several corrupt officers but was ultimately apprehended by the AVTF.
The post-credits scene depicted the Punisher cleverly obtaining a guard’s key to escape Fisk’s illegal prison. The scene ended before revealing whether he also freed other inmates, including Tony Dalton’s Swordsman. Daredevil: Born Again season 2 quickly clarified that the Punisher escaped independently, with Jack Duquesne later facing trial.
Daredevil Rectifies the Situation
The Punisher’s decision, while potentially intended for a surprise retaliatory strike, was seen as a misstep by many. Daredevil: Born Again season 2 effectively addresses this mistake through the actions of its titular hero.
A Moral Imperative
Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock couldn’t abide by the thought of innocent individuals remaining incarcerated. Daredevil successfully executes a plan to infiltrate Red Hook and liberate as many prisoners as possible. This action not only corrects the Punisher’s mistake from a moral perspective but also sets the stage for exciting developments.
A Thrilling Team-Up
Daredevil’s intervention leads to one of the most impressive fight sequences in Marvel’s television offerings. Daredevil and Swordsman join forces to battle the AVTF, showcasing creative combat and intense action.
Had the Punisher acted similarly, a brutal team-up could have unfolded, with Swordsman’s precision and Frank Castle’s force leaving a significant number of casualties. However, Daredevil and Swordsman deliver a thrilling and dynamic fight scene.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is proving to be a strong continuation of the series.
