Tinder Date Turns Violent in Colorado Springs

Lauren Marie Dooley, 22, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies following an alleged assault on a man she met through the dating app Tinder. The incident occurred in Colorado Springs, Colorado, last Wednesday.

Details of the Alleged Assault

According to an affidavit, Dooley has been charged with one felony count each of second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and menacing. Police responded to her apartment complex shortly before 6 p.m. after receiving an unknown call for assistance.

Victim Found Injured

Upon arrival, officers discovered the 21-year-old male victim naked in the parking lot, bleeding from a cut on his left arm. The affidavit states he was backing away from Dooley, who had “blood smeared on her arms and hands.”

Account of the Incident

The victim told investigators he had “just met Lauren on Tinder” and agreed to meet at her apartment. After arriving, Dooley allegedly engaged in sexual activity with him before binding his wrists and ankles with duct tape.

Initially, the victim reportedly consented to being taped. However, when Dooley produced a kitchen knife and demanded he go into her bedroom, he no longer consented. Fearing for his safety, he complied.

Escalation of Violence

Once in the bedroom, Dooley allegedly climbed on top of him and used the knife to cut his left shoulder. She then reportedly applied direct pressure to his throat with both hands for approximately 20 seconds, restricting his breathing.

After briefly stopping, Dooley allegedly retrieved a belt and tightened it around his neck for another 20 seconds, again impeding his ability to breathe. She then checked his neck for a pulse.

Escape and Arrest

The victim stated that Dooley ordered food through DoorDash and threatened to kill him if he spoke about the incident. He was able to free himself from the duct tape and escape the apartment, subsequently calling the police. The trial is now underway for Darius Janoski Lucky Jr., one of the defendants charged in connection to the 2023 drive-by shooting that killed A 9-year-old girl.
