Chrysler Announces Recall of Pacifica and Voyager Minivans
Chrysler is initiating a recall affecting 178,246 of its 2022-2026 Pacifica and Voyager minivans. The recall stems from a potential issue with the side curtain airbags, as reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Airbag Defect Details
According to NHTSA documents, the affected vehicles may have been equipped with side curtain airbags that could fail to maintain sufficient pressure upon deployment. This could potentially reduce the airbags’ effectiveness in a crash. NHTSA estimates that approximately 30% of the recalled vehicles are likely to have the defect.
Production Dates Affected
The recall specifically targets minivans manufactured between May 17, 2022, and August 8, 2025. Airbags used in vehicles produced outside of this timeframe are not subject to the recall.
Recall Notice and Repair Process
Chrysler will begin notifying dealerships about the recall this week. Vehicle owners can expect to receive official recall notices this spring. The remedy involves replacing either one or both of the side curtain airbags, as necessary, free of charge.
How to Check Your Vehicle
Owners can contact Chrysler or visit the NHTSA website to determine if their vehicle is included in this recall. Further information will be available once owners receive official notification.
