The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the arrest of a high-profile Canadian fugitive last week in Mississippi. The individual, identified as Adrian Vincent Walker, 28, was listed among Canada's top 25 most wanted international fugitives.
Fugitive Apprehended in Mississippi
Federal authorities successfully located and arrested Walker on March 23 at a residence in Tupelo, Mississippi. DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis praised the efforts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Charges Filed Against Walker
Bis stated, "Thanks to the brave men and women of ICE, one of Canada’s most wanted criminals is behind bars." Walker is accused by Canadian authorities of committing first-degree murder.
In addition to the murder warrant, Walker now faces federal charges within the U.S. These charges include illegal entry into the country and illegal possession of a firearm. He will face extradition proceedings after addressing these U.S. charges.
The Canadian Murder Case
Walker was being sought by the Toronto Police Service regarding a shooting incident that occurred on May 7, 2024. The event took place in the city's York District.
Victims of the May Shooting
The shooting resulted in the death of 31-year-old Trevor Dalton John, according to Canadian officials. Authorities also confirmed that a woman was wounded during the incident but survived the attack.
Following the shooting, Walker was officially designated a 'Most Wanted Person' by the Toronto police. Prosecutors revealed that Walker had been concealing his identity in Mississippi using an alias.
Prior Criminal History
This is not Walker's first involvement with the justice system. He previously served more than three years in a Canadian prison for a conviction related to aggravated assault.
Another suspect, 20-year-old Kemyan Franklyn, was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with both first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the same case.
