Representative Byron Donalds, a candidate for Florida Governor, reported raising $22.2 million during the first quarter of 2026. The announcement was made by his campaign and the Friends of Byron Donalds PAC.
Record-Breaking Fundraising
According to the campaign, the $22.2 million raised represents an “unprecedented” amount for a non-incumbent candidate in a Florida gubernatorial race. This fundraising success follows a strong 2025, where Donalds raised a total of $45 million, including $13.1 million in the fourth quarter alone.
Broad Support and Endorsements
The campaign states that over 10,000 individual donors contributed during the first quarter. Donalds is seeking to succeed outgoing Governor Ron DeSantis, who is term-limited and unable to run for reelection.
Key Endorsers
Donalds has secured a significant number of endorsements. These include backing from former President Donald Trump, as well as Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Donald Trump Jr., Elon Musk, Rick Scott, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Patronis, and Phil Mickelson. He also has the support of a majority of Florida sheriffs, 17 members of Florida’s congressional delegation, and 75 percent of the Republican caucus in the Florida House.
Polling Data
Recent polling data indicates Donalds is a frontrunner in the Republican primary. A February survey by the University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab showed Donalds leading with 28 percent support if Casey DeSantis were to enter the race, and 31 percent if she does not. Support for Donalds rose to 47 percent when respondents were informed of President Trump’s endorsement.
Campaign Strategy
Ryan Smith, chief strategist for the Donalds campaign, stated, “Trump-endorsed Byron Donalds is laser-focused on defeating the Democrats and keeping Florida Red this November.” Smith further emphasized Donalds’ commitment to affordability, safety, and defending “the Florida Dream.” He added that Donalds will focus on lowering the cost of living, securing communities from illegal immigration, and opposing what he calls the “Radical Democrats’ agenda.”
