Bulverde School Shooting Investigation
A shooting at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde, Texas, on Monday, March 30, involved a student using a firearm brought from home. A 15-year-old male student shot a teacher before turning the gun on himself, according to Comal County officials.
Weapon Identified
The weapon used in the incident has been identified as a .357 revolver belonging to the student’s grandfather. Comal County officials confirmed this information to FOX 7 Austin. Law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at the high school campus on Monday.
School Response and Closure
Following the shooting, the school was immediately placed on lockdown. Students were subsequently transported to a nearby middle school to reunite with their parents and guardians. The campus was closed on Tuesday and will remain closed through the end of the week to facilitate the ongoing investigation and provide support to students and staff.
Investigation Details
Investigators are exploring potential motives, believing the student may have been experiencing academic difficulties. Details regarding any prior disciplinary history of the student are currently unavailable. A search warrant was executed at the student’s home, and several electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis.
Community Support
Comal ISD is encouraging the community to show support for the injured teacher by wearing blue or a blue ribbon on Thursday, April 2, and Tuesday, April 7. Superintendent Dr. John E. Chapman III described Monday as “one of the hardest days our district has faced.”
“It’s simply a visible reminder that she is surrounded by people who care. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is to show up and let someone know that they are loved and that they’re not alone,”
said Dr. Chapman in a social media post.
