K-pop superstars BTS have reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Artist 100 chart following the highly anticipated release of their new album, 'ARIRANG'. This marks a significant return to the top for the global group.
'ARIRANG' Album Achieves Massive First-Week Sales
The new LP, 'ARIRANG', launched straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It achieved this feat by earning an impressive 641,000 equivalent album units in the United States during its opening week, according to data provided by Luminate.
Biggest Sales Week of 2026
This sales figure represents the largest weekly total recorded in 2026 so far. It is also noted as the biggest sales week since Taylor Swift's recent release.
BTS Dominates the Billboard Hot 100
The success of the new album translated directly to the singles chart, as BTS debuted 13 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. This influx of new tracks significantly boosted the group's overall presence on the chart.
Lead Single 'Swim' Takes Top Spot
Leading the charge for the new entries was the track “Swim,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Furthermore, four of the new songs from 'ARIRANG' landed within the chart’s top 40 positions.
Career Chart Milestones Achieved
With these 13 new debuts, BTS has now accumulated a career total of 39 songs that have charted on the Hot 100. The group first entered the chart on October 7, 2017, with “DNA,” which peaked at No. 67.
To date, 18 of the group's entries have reached the top 40. Ten of those have peaked within the top 10, and seven have achieved the coveted No. 1 position. These seven chart-topping hits include:
- “Dynamite”
- “Savage Love” (with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo)
- “Life Goes On”
- “Butter”
- “Permission to Dance”
- “My Universe” (with Coldplay)
- “Swim”
Return to Artist 100 Leadership
The album's performance propelled BTS back to the top of the Billboard Artist 100 chart. This marks the 22nd total week the group has held the No. 1 position on this ranking.
This is the first time BTS has led the Artist 100 since June 2022. Since the Artist 100 chart began in 2014, only four other acts have spent more weeks at the top spot: Taylor Swift, Drake, Morgan Wallen, and The Weeknd.
Understanding the Artist 100 Metric
The Artist 100 chart measures an act's overall activity across several key metrics of music consumption. These metrics include album sales, track sales, radio airplay, and streaming data.
Using a methodology that incorporates these factors, the chart provides a weekly, multidimensional ranking of artist popularity across the industry.
