A Legacy of Success
Throughout his tenure, Self has led the Jayhawks to remarkable achievements, including 21 regular-season conference championships, four Final Four appearances, and two national championships. His overall record stands at 840-272, excluding 15 vacated wins due to NCAA sanctions.
Record-Breaking Career at Kansas
On November 12, 2024, Self surpassed Phog Allen as the winningest coach in Kansas basketball history with a victory over Michigan State. His record at Kansas currently stands at 633-167.
Recent Tournament Run and Health Considerations
Kansas’ season concluded on March 22 with a narrow defeat to St. John’s in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks mounted a significant comeback but ultimately fell short. Self has faced recent health challenges, including the insertion of multiple stents, which prompted reflection on his future.
