Bethenny Frankel has publicly defended Summer House stars Amanda Batula and West Wilson after they revealed their romance. The former Real Housewives of New York City personality shared her thoughts in a TikTok video filmed while dining on Tuesday night.

Frankel Questions the Narrative

Despite admitting she isn’t familiar with the couple, Frankel questioned the context surrounding the situation. “A, was this on a reality show with producers and a network that stands to profit in the same way as Scandoval?” she asked, referencing the highly publicized drama from Vanderpump Rules.

She continued, “B, did the people that were ‘friends’ meet on the show? Because if that’s the case, we have to shave several points off friendship, because the network wants you to think they were all friends, but they’re not really friends, and they won’t be friends after.”

Defense of Consenting Adults

Frankel further defended Batula, 34, and Wilson, 31, by acknowledging the environment of the Bravo show. She pointed out that Summer House often features heavy drinking and dramatic situations.

“If these are all in fact true, and this couple that is now a couple, they’re grown ass consenting adults,” Frankel stated. She urged viewers to refrain from the same level of scrutiny and negativity directed at previous reality TV controversies. “Whoever it is that you’re gonna go drag, bully and cane…then we move on,” she added.

Call for Acceptance and a Wedding Offer

Frankel concluded by wishing the couple well. “Whoever these two people are together now, go with God. I’ll be happy to sell them an appropriate wedding dress. You’re welcome.” She reiterated her call for fans to “move on” from the situation.

Joint Statement from Batula and Wilson

Batula and Wilson released a joint statement explaining their decision to keep their relationship private initially. “It was never our intention to purposely hide anything,” they said. They explained they needed time to process the “complicated relationship dynamics” and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show.

The couple also acknowledged the impact their actions had on others. “We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless.”
