After Back to the Future officially reached its 40th anniversary date since the original film's release back in 1985, fans of the franchise have been happy to celebrate the milestone and the movie's impact on culture over its lifetime. While there's a small group of Back to the Future fans who have held on to hope that the franchise would get a reboot at some point, most agree with creators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, who have repeatedly stated that they do not want a fourth film or a reboot. That said, there's hope yet for all Back to the Future enthusiasts, as there's a brand-new upcoming release that won't step on any of the existing films toes but will still bring back the iconic series in a meaningful way.It comes by way of a completely unexpected announcement during the June 2 State of Play event, as Back to the Future is set to make an official comeback in a brand-new video game releasing on all major platforms soon. PlayStation's State of Play event yesterday was one for the record books, with several major announcements and reveals that have gamers from all corners absolutely hyped.For starters, there was an extended gameplay look at Marvel's Wolverine, which gave us a look at what to expect in terms of combat and story, even teasing some awesome Marvel cameos. There were several other huge announcements, including the long-rumored God of War Laufey featuring Faye as a new protagonist.But perhaps one of the most unexpected announcements was Stuntman: Hollywood, an upcoming racing game from Saber Interactive that features various iconic cars from famous films, including Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and of course, Back to the Future. You can take a look at Marty McFly's iconic DeLorean appearance in the trailer around the 1:05 minute mark in the official trailer below.For the uninitiated, Stuntman: Hollywood is an official reboot of the PlayStation 2 classic Stuntman racing franchise from 2002, which featured high-speed stunt-driving action that put players in the role of a Hollywood stunt performer. Known for its demanding gameplay and top-tier cinematic sequences, the series included the original PS2 and Game Boy Advance versions of Stuntman, as well as a sequel titled Stuntman: Ignition, which launched in 2007 for Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and mobile.The surprise announcement of Stuntman: Hollywood caught the gaming community completely off guard, and fans of the original series are excited to be able to play the game with actual officially licensed Hollywood IPs such as Back to the Future, considering this was a feature that was sorely missing from the originals. While there's still no set release date available just yet, Stuntman: Hollywood will be available on all major platforms, and there's sure to be more information trickling out in the coming months
