Andrew Garfield, known for his portrayal of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man films, has addressed a recent online rumor regarding a potential appearance in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Trailer Rumor Sparks Reaction
Garfield reacted to a circulating claim about a leaked trailer featuring himself and Tobey Maguire, calling it “absolutely ludicrous.” The rumor suggested Marvel had edited the pair out of a scene involving a fight against characters believed to be The Hand.
Addressing the Speculation
During an interview with Capital FM, Garfield responded to questions about the alleged editing, stating, “This feels like a reach, to be honest.” He playfully questioned the logic, pointing out the limited space in the frame, but acknowledged there’s “room for more characters in every frame of the film, probably!”
He further dismissed the rumor as “insane” and a “conspiracy theory-level attempt at investigative journalism,” exclaiming, “You’ve lost your damn minds!”
A Cryptic Response
However, Garfield added a layer of intrigue, noting, “You notice I didn’t say that I wasn’t in it, though, right? Or am I a traitor?” This ambiguous statement has fueled further speculation among fans.
Looking Ahead
Reflecting on the ongoing questions about his involvement in Spider-Man projects, Garfield jokingly predicted, “I’ll be 98 years old and they’ll be making Spider-Man 78, and people will be like, ‘So, Andrew?’ And I’ll be like, you know, urinating into a colostomy bag.”
Confirmed Cast and Crew
As of now, speculation about Garfield’s role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day persists. The confirmed cast includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature.
