A group of activists staged a high-profile protest over the weekend by renaming the private megayacht belonging to tech billionaire Larry Ellison. The action was taken while the vessel was moored at a storage dock located in the French Riviera.

The Act of Renaming

Four activists boarded the $160 million yacht and affixed a large decal onto its hull. The decal featured the new name, 'The Trump Propagandist,' written in prominent gold lettering.

The political action group responsible, known as Led By Donkeys, released video footage documenting the event. This stunt was part of a broader campaign aimed at protesting Ellison's perceived extensive influence over both media and politics.

Yacht's Original Name and Activist Statement

The protest video explicitly stated, "The yacht is 'called the Musashi, but not for long — because we're about to rename it." The background music featured Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries' during the declaration.

Led By Donkeys further highlighted Ellison's political alignments, noting, "He's a big Donald Trump supporter, and a close friend of Benjamin Netanyahu."

Concerns Over Media Influence

The group cited Ellison's financial activities and recent appointments as justification for their protest. Ellison has reportedly channeled millions of dollars into campaigning for right-wing politicians and related initiatives via his company, Oracle.

Ellison's Role in Tech and Politics

Recently, Ellison was appointed to Donald Trump's newly established 'Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.' This council also includes other major figures in the tech industry, such as Mark Zuckerberg, Marc Andreessen, and Jensen Huang.

The activists claimed that Trump recently granted Ellison control over TikTok operations within the United States. They alleged that shortly after this, prominent pro-Palestinian voices on the platform faced silencing.

Acquisition of Media Outlets

The group also pointed to the Ellisons' purchase of Paramount last year, which granted them control over CBS news. They asserted that CBS coverage concerning Iran has subsequently adopted a notably pro-war stance.

Furthermore, the activists noted that the Ellisons are soon set to take over Warner Brothers, which would give them control over CNN. The video concluded with the statement, "And that is why we've renamed this superyacht 'The Trump Propagandist.'"

The concluding remarks emphasized accountability, stating, "The billionaires are buying up the news to support their friends, the politicians pitching our world into chaos and war. Then they jump on their superyachts, accountable to nobody."
