David E. Hopkins, a 75-year-old Mobile resident, was operating the motorcycle when it was struck from behind by the Ford Flex. The driver of the Ford Flex was identified as Kayla A. Sauer, 28, of Dixon, Missouri. Following the collision, Hopkins was rushed to USA University Hospital in Mobile.

Despite receiving urgent medical care, Mr. Hopkins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
