Vernon Kay and Tess Daly have reportedly marked the end of their 25-year marriage with a toast of champagne. The couple announced their separation on Friday, expressing their determination to remain supportive parents to their daughters, Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16.
Keeping It Classy
The pair are said to be "keeping it classy" with their split, choosing to celebrate their time together with a bottle of champagne. Despite their romantic separation, they continue to live in the same property and are eager to embrace the next chapters of their lives.
A Source Close to the Couple
A source close to the couple shared with The Mirror, "After they released the statement, Vernon and Tess took a moment to toast each other and their futures. They only want the best for each other and their family."
There has been no major fallout, but rather a gradual growing apart and a realization that they wanted different things. They have vowed to stay friends and maintain a classy approach to their split and any future interviews.
Their Journey Together
Vernon and Tess began dating in 2001 after meeting through their work. Vernon proposed on Christmas Day the following year, and they tied the knot in Horwich, near Vernon's hometown in Lancashire, in September 2002.
Reflecting on their first meeting, Vernon told The Telegraph, "She didn’t know anyone except me because we’d worked together that day – she spotted me in a crowd and we had a laugh. I was instantly attracted by how independent Tess was, and that’s not changed at all."
Living Separate Lives
Before their official split, a source told Daily Mail's Katie Hind that the couple had been living separate lives. "Basically, without meaning to, they’ve been living separate lives," the source said. "They’re two individuals who decided to get married and meet through their careers are going their separate ways."
Friends of the couple revealed that life had been changing for them, with separate family outings and shifting dynamics. After much consideration and with mutual care and respect, they decided to separate amicably.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Vernon and Tess’s representatives for comment.
