Seth Rogen has drawn criticism for a cheeky remark about actress Celia Imrie during his speech at the TV BAFTAs on Sunday night. The actor, 44, was on stage to accept an award in the International category for his series The Studio when he made a comment that some viewers found inappropriate.
Controversial BAFTAs Remark
Rogen pointed to Imrie, 73, and said, "I assume this woman in the green dress is a very accomplished and talented woman, but all I know is that she farted on a reality TV show..." He then added, "What else have you done?" The joke referenced an incident where Imrie broke wind during a scene on Celebrity Traitors, which aired last year.
Viewer Reactions
Many viewers took to social media to express their disapproval, calling it bizarre that Rogen didn't recognize Imrie's extensive career in film and television. Imrie is known for her roles in various acclaimed productions, making the joke seem out of place.
Honoring Late Co-Star
Later in his speech, Rogen paid a heartfelt tribute to his late co-star Catherine O'Hara, who passed away in January at the age of 71. O'Hara played Patty Leigh in The Studio and was beloved for her role in Home Alone.
