A remarkable collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia is set to be auctioned at Aguttes Auction house in Paris, France, with an estimated total value of $1,000,000.

Auction Coincides with Biopic Release

The auction coincides with the upcoming release of a biopic celebrating the life and career of the “King of Pop,” increasing interest in these iconic items. The sale features more than 50 pieces personally owned by Jackson, offering fans and collectors a unique opportunity to own a piece of music history.

Iconic Items Up for Bid

Among the most prized possessions is the legendary white Swarovski rhinestone glove worn during the Bad World Tour between 1987 and 1989. Famously thrown into the audience during performances, the glove was recovered by a bodyguard and is expected to sell for between €100,000 and €150,000 (approximately $117,190-$175,785).

Other significant items include a vibrant red Dior cardigan, recognizable from numerous photographs and performances, and a hat worn during the 1984 Victory Tour. The auction will also feature original drawings and signed autographs.

'Pop Culture + Memorabilia: Michael' Exhibition

Aguttes Auction house is presenting the collection as part of an immersive exhibition titled ‘Pop Culture + Memorabilia: Michael,’ running from May 30th to June 2nd. This allows enthusiasts to view the collection before the auction on June 3rd.

Exhibition Structure

The exhibition is structured in three acts, charting Jackson’s career from his early beginnings, through his commercial peak, and into his later years dedicated to charity work. This curation aims to provide a comprehensive retrospective of his life and legacy.

Origin of the Collection

The collection originated from Richard Fossaas, a Norwegian collector who dedicated his life to amassing Michael Jackson memorabilia with the goal of establishing a museum. After Fossaas’s dream of a museum didn’t materialize, a private collector from New York acquired his extensive collection.

A Connection to Jackson’s Legacy

Arthur Perault, Head of the Pop Culture + Memorabilia Department at Aguttes, emphasizes the unique nature of this event. He states, “It’s more than just a sale; it’s a chance to connect physically with Jackson’s genius.”

Perault believes they are offering a key to understanding the myth surrounding the King of Pop, making his legend tangible for those who cherish his memory. The auction is designed as a tribute to Jackson’s genius, allowing visitors to relive his career through the objects that defined his story.
