Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez, known for their relationship that blossomed on Strictly Come Dancing, have announced they have no intention of marrying despite being engaged for five years.

No Wedding on the Horizon

The couple, who share two children – six-year-old Mia and two-year-old Thiago – openly discussed their decision on their podcast, Lost In Translation. Gemma stated plainly, “I ain’t getting married to him. No chance,” a sentiment echoed by Gorka, who added, “I don’t think I want to get married.”

Their reasoning stems from observing the high divorce rate among their friends and family. Gemma noted that “everyone I know who has got married has ended up getting divorced, apart from my sister.”

Marriage is Just a Document

Gorka further explained that marriage is simply a legal document and unnecessary for a couple already deeply committed and raising a family together. Concerns about a will without a marriage certificate were also raised by Gemma’s mother, prompting a humorous exchange about Gorka’s spending habits.
