Beatles Icons Reunite for Historic Duet
Sir Paul McCartney, 83, and Ringo Starr, 85, have collaborated on a new song titled 'Home To Us,' marking the first-ever duet between the two surviving Beatles. The track is a nostalgic reflection on their shared upbringing in Liverpool.
'Home To Us' and the Upcoming Album
The song will be featured on McCartney’s forthcoming album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, set for release next month. Backing vocals on 'Home To Us' are provided by Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and Sharleen Spiteri of Texas.
Unique Recording Process
Ringo Starr revealed on the Jimmy Kimmel show that the recording process began with the drum track two years ago. He described the song as “amusing and very real,” emphasizing its connection to their shared origins. The pair are believed to share the chorus of the song.
A Nostalgic Reflection on Liverpool
The lyrics of 'Home To Us' center around their childhood in Liverpool, a city Sir Paul characterized as “a little rough, but home to us.” The song evokes memories of their early lives and the strong community spirit they experienced.
Album Details and Artwork
The Boys of Dungeon Lane also includes the previously released track 'Days We Left Behind,' which premiered on BBC Merseyside earlier this month. This marks Sir Paul’s first new music in five years. The album artwork features a portrait by Sir Paul’s daughter, Mary McCartney.
A Personal and Introspective Journey
Sir Paul describes the album as a “memory song,” revisiting formative experiences and early collaborations with John Lennon and George Harrison. He reminisces about his working-class roots in Speke and the enduring impact of his upbringing. The album was recorded over five years in Los Angeles and Sussex, following a meeting with producer Andrew Watt.
Recent Activities
Outside of music, Sir Paul McCartney was recently seen vacationing with his wife, Nancy, in St. Barts. The couple married in 2011 and blended their families after meeting during a holiday in Morocco.
