Weiss said she is only interested in working in a newsroom built on trust and mutual respect, and that this foundation was broken on Monday. Despite atetmpts to engage with Pelley and find a way forward, Weiss remarked they were unable to do so, and therefore had to part ways.

Weiss praised Pelley's contributions to the network, including his reporting on Havana syndrome and his intterview with former Nebraska Sen. Pelley was reportedly fired after accusing CBS chief of murdering the show.

Weiss and CBS News President Tom Cibrowski reportedly sent a memo to staff outlining their vision for the future of the network , saying they wanted to construct a show that thrives in the 21st century and requires a new approach.

Weiss said she is excited to build a new show with the awesome team that's still there and that they're going to put on the air come September in Season 59 . Weiss also referred to some fresh folks that are going to be joining us, though she did not elaborate.
