WWE SmackDown arrives at Denver's Ball Arena tonight to determine the final participants for the Money in the Bank event. The broadcast features high-stakes qualifiers and the long-awaited ring debut of Blake Monroe.
Cody Rhodes and the October 10 Contract
The Men's Money in the Bank field will be completed tonight in a Triple Threat match featuring Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Johnny Gargano. As the report notes, Cody Rhodes—a three-time WWE Champion—is currently balancing a volatile feud with Randy Orton while attempting to secure the MITB contract. This pursuit is part of a broader trend in WWE where the MITB briefcase serves as a strategic insurance policy for top-tier stars looking to reclaim championships.
The tension between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton peaked on Sept. 25, when Orton questioned Rhodes' "killer instinct." According to the source, Rhodes has vowed to respond aggressively, but he must first navigate the threats posed by Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano, both of whom are actively hunting the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Tiffany Stratton's Path from the Sept. 25 Defeat
On the women's side, Tatum Paxley, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae will compete in a Triple Threat to fill the final spot in the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Tiffany Stratton enters this match seeking redemption after a difficult outing on Sept. 25, where she suffered a loss in a six-woman tag team match against Fatal Influence.
This match represents a pivotal moment for Tiffany Stratton to pivot away from the interference that plagued her previous encounter. for Tatum Paxley and Candice LeRae, the stakes are equally high , as the winner gains a significant advantage heading into the October 10 event.
The Sept. 5 Backstage Brawl and Blake Monroe's Debut
One of the most anticipated segments of the Denver show is the in-ring SmackDown debut of Blake Monroe against Giulia. The friction between these two athletes has been building for months, characterized by backstage assaults and failed match attempts. As reported, a scheduled bout on Sept. 5 collapsed when Giulia attacked Monroe during an interview, leading to a brawl that spilled toward the stage.
Giulia enters the ring with significant momentum but likely some frustration. The source highlights that on Sept. 25, Giulia nearly secured a victory over Charlotte using the Arrivederci/Northern Lights Bomb combination, only to be stopped by Lash. This debut match will finally determine if Blake Monroe can withstand Giulia's aggression in a sanctioned environment.
Rey Fenix and the AAA Cruiserweight Title in Denver
The evening also features a six-man tag team match pairing AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix and the duo Fraxiom against Ricky Saints and The War Raiders. This match blends the high-flyiing style of Rey Fenix with the power-based offense of The War Raiders, offering a stylistic contrast to the high-stakes qualifiers.
Despite the detailed card, several questions remain regarding the long-term trajectory of these rivalries.. It remains unclear how the outcome of the Blake Monroe and Giulia match will affect the women's division hierarchy, or if the tension between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton will boil over before the October 10 event. Furthermore, the report does not specify if any other stipulations are attached to the six-man tag involving Rey Fenix.
