Inglewood, CA – Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) delivered a high-energy performance at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Wednesday night, marking the launch of his tour in support of his recently released 10th studio album.
Album Release and Initial Performance
After releasing the final version of his much-anticipated album through Gamma, a multimedia company led by Larry Jackson, Ye took to the stage. He immediately launched into tracks from the new release, including “King” and “Father” featuring Travis Scott. The venue floor vibrated as fans enthusiastically moshed during the opening songs.
Finding His Groove with Classics
While initially appearing to adjust to the elevated stage resembling planet Earth, Ye found his rhythm with performances of “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” Songs like “All The Love” were met with resounding applause, but it was the classic tracks that truly resonated with the audience.
Surprise Guests and Stage Antics
Guest appearances were limited throughout the three-hour set, but Don Toliver made a notable appearance, performing his collaboration with Ye, “Moon,” and his solo track “E85.” True to form, Ye also directed critiques towards his lighting and sound crew, playfully demanding adjustments like, “Yo, make the earth spin slower!”
North West Steals the Show
The biggest surprise of the night came when Ye’s daughter, North West, joined him on stage to perform “Miss Westie,” delighting the crowd on a school night.
Yeezus Era Appreciation
Yeezus, often overlooked in discussions of Ye’s best work, received a warm reception from the Inglewood audience. Performances of “Black Skinhead,” “Onsite,” and “Blood on the Leaves” generated a particularly enthusiastic response, even surprising Ye himself.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
Ye acknowledged the desire for his older material, and the concert featured a powerful run through hits like “All Falls Down,” “Jesus Walks,” “Through The Wire,” “Good Life,” “All of the Lights,” and a closing performance of “Runaway.” The stadium’s 70,000 attendees were fully engaged throughout the show’s finale.
