Wyoming County Farm Submerged in Floodwaters
Shannon Morgan and her husband operate a family farm on Wyoming Road in Covington, New York, that features a variety of animals. Following a severe storm on Tuesday, April 1, 2026, their farm was hit by significant flash flooding.
“It Was Insane” – Describing the Rapid Rise of Water
Morgan described the flooding as incredibly rapid, stating, “It was, like, insane. It was up to my knees…within probably five to 10 minutes.” The swift current carried items across the entire yard, creating a chaotic scene.
Animals Impacted by the Flood
The farm is home to approximately 35 goats, three donkeys, two large pigs, geese, ducks, and chickens. While most animals were initially secure, the rising water quickly put some in danger. “My pigs were swimming,” Morgan recounted, noting that some of her birds were lost during the event.
Recovery Efforts Underway
As of Wednesday, April 2, 2026, the pigs were safely behind barricades. However, fencing was damaged, and the goats and donkeys remain confined to their current locations. Morgan anticipates days of work to restore the farm to its previous condition, and she and her husband have been working without sleep.
