The day will feature two highly anticipated contests under the Wrigley Field lights. Nebraska is slated to face Missouri, while Penn State will compete against Kentucky.
While the exact order of the games is still being finalized, the first match is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m., followed by the second match beginning at 8 p.m. that evening.
The Inaugural SEC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge
This special event serves as the culmination of the first-ever SEC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge Week. The overall challenge involves 10 schools from the Big Ten Conference and 16 institutions from the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti highlighted the significance of the event in a recent news release. He stated, "Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week culminating at Wrigley Field brings together the highest level of women's volleyball competition, at one of the most iconic venues in the country."
Showcasing Growth in Women's Volleyball
Commissioner Petitti further emphasized the growing popularity of the sport. He noted that as women's volleyball continues to see increases in participation, sponsorship, attendance, and viewership, this event offers a unique platform.
The goal is to "showcase the exceptional competition" taking place. Tickets for the doubleheader, which grant access to both matches, will go on sale starting Thursday, April 9, at 10 a.m.
