‘Widow’s Bay’ Unveiled: A Creepy New Series

The first trailer has arrived for ‘Widow’s Bay,’ a new horror comedy series coming to Apple TV+ on April 29. Matthew Rhys, known for his role in ‘The Americans,’ stars as the exasperated mayor of a secluded and potentially cursed island.

A Town Haunted by Its Past

The series is set forty miles off the coast of New England, on an island overseen by Mayor Tom Loftis. Loftis harbors ambitious plans to transform the quaint seaside village into a thriving tourist destination. However, his vision is challenged by the deeply held belief among many locals that their home is under a curse.

Facing Skepticism and Strange Occurrences

The trailer hints at a growing sense of unease as tourists begin to arrive. A visitor’s question – “Is there…cannibalism?” – is met with a dismissive response from Mayor Tom. Despite his attempts to downplay the island’s dark history, the trailer reveals glimpses of unsettling events, including screaming residents, strange creatures, and ominous scenes like a sinister beach bonfire.

Mayor Loftis’s Struggle for Respect

Mayor Tom Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and revitalize the struggling community. The island lacks modern amenities like wifi and reliable cell service, adding to his challenges. He craves the respect of his constituents, who view him as weak and ineffective.

Despite their doubts, Loftis manages to attract tourists to the island. Unfortunately, the locals’ fears prove to be well-founded as the island’s dark past resurfaces after decades of relative calm.
