The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) is preparing to address two significant projects impacting the nation’s capital: the White House East Wing Modernization Project and plans for a new Washington Commanders stadium at the RFK Campus.

White House East Wing Modernization Project

On Thursday, NCPC members will vote on the East Wing project, a comprehensive proposal to modernize and upgrade essential areas within the White House’s East Wing. This initiative aims to improve functionality, enhance safety, and ensure the longevity of this important national asset.

The project balances modern amenities with the preservation of the White House’s historical integrity. Artist renditions and diagrams were briefly posted on the NCPC website on February 17, 2026, ahead of a March 5th hearing. This project is separate from a previously proposed $400 million White House ballroom installation by former President Donald Trump, which requires Congressional approval.

Former President Trump previously stated the project would replace the “very small, dilapidated” East Wing with a “magnificent New East Wing.” He noted in December that the project had expanded in size and quality, with improved finishes and a larger column span.

Washington Commanders Stadium Plans

The NCPC will also conduct an initial review of plans for the new Washington Commanders stadium at the RFK Campus. Details of the stadium plans will be discussed during the meeting.

University of Rochester Increases Security
