Expansion of Webby Categories for 2024

Organizers noted a significant expansion in several key areas this year, reflecting the evolving digital environment. New awards were added across AI, creators, podcasts, and social media.

Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Creators

The AI categories were broadened to highlight the “tools, applications and innovations setting new benchmarks.” Additionally, new awards spotlighting “creator business” aim to honor those building significant brands and communities online.

Jesse Feister, executive director of the Webby Media Group, emphasized the awards' evolving legacy. He stated, “Each wave of technology reshapes our lives and the standards of what great work looks like online.”

Feister added that by recognizing new frontiers in AI and creators, the Webbys continue to champion creativity that challenges existing conventions.

Podcast and Social Media Updates

Podcast categories now feature new honors such as best new podcast, best video podcast, and best video podcast host. In social media, new additions include best social video series – longform and best community experience for games.
