Vicky Glass Murder: Family Still Seeking Justice 26 Years On The family of Vicky Glass, murdered in 2000, mark 26 years without justice as Cleveland Police renew appeals. Anyone with information is urged to come forward. The family of Vicky Glass, a woman murdered just days after her 21st birthday, have said they will never stop fighting to find her killer 26 years after her disappearance. Vicky was last seen in Union Street, Middlesbrough, around 4am on September 24, 2000. Her body was found 20 miles away in a stream on moorland near Danby, North Yorkshire, on November 3, 2000. Vicky Glass Disappearance and DiscoveryVicky was last seen being dropped off by a taxi driver at 4am on September 24, 2000, on Union Street at the junction of Eshwood Square in Middlesbrough. She was 21 years old and had just celebrated her birthday.Her body was discovered six weeks later, on November 3, 2000, lying in a stream on moorland near Danby, North Yorkshire, about 20 miles from where she was last seen.In 2022, police released CCTV footage of Vicky walking with a friend in the Cannon Park area of Middlesbrough just hours before she disappeared. The footage showed her wearing light-coloured trousers and a top, white trainers and a dark-coloured puffer-style jacket.After speaking to the friend from the CCTV, police learned Vicky had engaged in a conversation with a lorry driver who provided her with money. Police say Vicky left personal effects with the trucker and agreed to meet him later in the day.The driver is described as male, white, 34 to 38 years old at the time, broad build and had a distinctive mole on his face.Investigation and Previous ArrestsSince Vicky's murder, detectives have combed through more than 200 hours of CCTV footage and arrested four individuals. In June this year, a 65-year-old man was arrested and remains on bail.However, no one has been charged in connection with Vicky's death. Cleveland Police senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve Chatterton, said: Vicky's family have longed for answers regarding her death and the person responsible for 26 years.He added: As we continue to investigate Vicky's murder, we would again appeal for anyone with information regarding Vicky's whereabouts, between the last sighting of her and her body being found six weeks later, to contact us.Any information at all could assist us in finally bringing to justice the person who murdered Vicky Glass, and bringing an end to this nightmare for her family.Vicky's mother, Deborah, passed away without ever knowing who murdered her daughter. Her family said they mourn for her every single day and want her killer to pay the price.Family's Ongoing Fight for JusticeIn a statement, Vicky's family expressed their enduring pain. They said that as another year passes, they find it hard to express how deeply they feel, and that the pain increases as time goes on.They described the pain as vicious and brutal, breaking them down, but it will never stop them from fighting for Vicky, to keep asking for help, to get answers, to get justice.The family said their grief intensifies, not only grieving her life being taken but also grieving for the woman she could have been if she was still here, the chance for change ripped from her. They also grieve for their family and who they could have been.They mourn every single day, not being able to talk to her, go shopping with her, sit around a table with her having a family meal, laugh with her, make memories with her, all the small things that are taken for granted.For 26 years, they have been waiting for the cold-blooded monster that murdered Vicky to be named, for justice to be served, for them to pay the price.They said that for 26 years this killer has lived a life they had no right to live, a life free of consequence with no thought for the life they stole, Vicky's life and their lives.
