Vanderbilt Baseball's Road Struggles
A key question surrounding Vanderbilt baseball this season has been its performance away from home. The Commodores are set to face No. 25 Texas A&M in a three-game series from Thursday to Saturday in College Station, Texas.
Recent Performance and Coach Corbin's Comments
Vanderbilt enters the series with a five-game winning streak, however, all those victories occurred at home. The team’s road record currently stands at 1-8 after weekends in Arlington, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada, and a series at Mississippi State.
“I think that’s a very fair question. Can this team win on the road? We’ll see, we’ll see. I’m interested in finding that answer out, too, as much as you guys are,” Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin stated after the team’s win against Belmont on Tuesday night.
Pitching Advantage for the Series
Freshman Pitcher's Complete Game
Vanderbilt may have an advantage heading into the Texas A&M series with its full pitching staff available. Freshman pitcher Connor Hamilton delivered a complete game on Tuesday night, throwing 116 pitches and allowing the team to preserve its other arms for the crucial road series.
Momentum and Upcoming Competition
Last week’s sweep of Tennessee provided a boost for the Commodores, following a 14-12 start to the season. A successful series against Texas A&M would further solidify this positive momentum.
