Urgent Safety Alert: Power Strips Recalled Over Fire Risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced an immediate recall for specific CCCEI-branded power strips sold via Amazon. This recall is necessary because the units present a significant fire hazard if they become overloaded during use.

The power strips were distributed by the seller Middle Way Electronics. Consumers are strongly advised to stop using these devices immediately and contact the seller to obtain a full refund for the purchase.

Identifying the Recalled Product Details

The affected products include CCCEI power strips featuring a black metal enclosure. These models are equipped with six individual receptacles, each having its own on/off switch.

The recall specifically covers units with three different cord lengths: 6-foot, 10-foot, and 15-foot power cords. These defective electrical accessories were manufactured in China.

The Core Safety Defect and Potential Dangers

The primary issue identified by the CPSC is the lack of supplementary overcurrent protection within the power strips. This deficiency means that overloading the device can lead to overheating and potentially ignite a fire.

According to the CPSC, if one of these overloaded units catches fire, there is a risk of serious injury or fatality resulting from smoke inhalation or severe burns.

Sales Timeline and Incident Reports

These hazardous power strips were available for purchase on the Amazon platform over an extended period. Sales occurred between April 2024 and January 2026.

The retail price for the affected units ranged from $23 to $30. Middle Way Electronics has reported receiving two instances where the power strips sparked and melted.

To date, the company has not received any official reports linking the product malfunction to actual fires or consumer injuries.

Consumer Action Required

The CPSC is urging all purchasers to take immediate action. Consumers must cease using the power strips right away.

To secure a complete reimbursement, customers need to reach out directly to Middle Way Electronics for instructions on processing the recall return.
