Tyler Baltierra Defends Carly's Adoptive Parents and Denies Forcing Adoption Tyler Baltierra of Teen Mom responds to a follower's criticism of Carly's adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa, urging respect and defending his wife Catelynn Lowell's adoption decision. Tyler Baltierra, 34, of Teen Mom fame, has responded to online criticism regarding the adoption of his firstborn daughter, Carly, whom he and his wife Catelynn Lowell, also 34, placed for adoption in 2009 when they were 16. The couple documented the process on season 1 of MTV's 16 and Pregnant. Earlier this week, Baltierra shared a screenshot of an Instagram comment and his reply, addressing the situation. A follower wrote to Baltierra, expressing that he and Catelynn were exploited and unsupported, and called the adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa, condescending vultures preying on a vulnerable young mom and dad. The follower added, You deserve and deserved better! You were taken advantage of, lied to, and betrayed. Baltierra responded, saying that he appreciates the support but believes Carly's parents love her dearly and she loves them just as much. He asked the follower to refrain from calling them unnecessary names like condescending vultures. He continued, acknowledging the pain and anger in the adoption community but stated that he does not want to add to that pain by reading comments about the parents Carly loves. He emphasized that if creators truly cared about how Carly felt, they would not continue to bring her up by responding to others. He concluded by thanking the follower for their support and asking for understanding, noting that his perspective comes from a place of love.In another Instagram Story, Baltierra addressed a rumor that he forced Lowell to give Carly up for adoption and made her choose between him and the baby. He called this completely false and one of many conspiracy theories, stating that they have addressed it many times but it remains important to do so. He explained that the rumor is not only untrue but also incredibly cruel, as it minimizes his wife's decision to self-preservation, when the primal love and pain required to relinquish a baby is the opposite of self-preservation.He shared that both he and Lowell had adolescent fears and worries throughout the pregnancy, and they flip-flopped many times, with each wanting to parent at different points. However, one fact remains: they both wanted to take Carly home that day. He stressed that the rumor takes away his wife's sacrificial love and power to do what she felt was right for her baby out of pure desperation. He wished people would show her more respect and grace for that decision rather than unjustifiable opinions that minimize her experience and spread false information. He concluded that while they laugh at most rumors, this one should stop as it is a disservice to his wife's experience as a birthmother, and pleaded for people to do better.Baltierra and Lowell, childhood sweethearts, married and have three more daughters: Novalee, 11, Vaeda, 7, and Rya, 5. They recently shared a loving tribute to Carly on her 17th birthday, posting a TikTok created by Lowell on their shared Facebook account, reflecting on how much she has grown since the adoption in 2009. The couple continues to share their adoption journey publicly, aiming to educate and address misconceptions.Despite the challenges, Baltierra and Lowell remain committed to honoring their daughter's adoption story and protecting her relationship with her adoptive parents. They hope to foster understanding and respect within the adoption community and beyond.
