Two Singaporean hikers, Heng Wen Qiang Timothy and Shahin Muhrez bin Abdul Hamid, were found dead after being buried under rock debris during the eruption of Mount Dukono on the Indonesian island of Halmahera. The pair were part of a group of 20 hikers who ignored warnings to stay away from the volcano.

Volcanic Eruption Claims Lives

The hikers were discovered huthered together, with sounds of rocks reported before their deaths. The eruption had been preceded by four days of volcanic activity. In total, three people were killed, including an Indonesian woman, while 17 others survived.

Warnings Ignored

The group had entered a restricted area at the time of the eruption. Authorities have stated that necessary action will be taken against those who ignored the warnings. Police are also taking action against other hikers who accompanied the missing pair.

Autopsy and Investigation

An autopsy of the two hikers' bodies is underway as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
