Trump Undecided on Livestreaming Nidal Hasan Execution Scheduled for Dec 3 President Trump said he has not decided whether to livestream the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, scheduled for Dec. 3, the military's first execution since 1961. President Donald Trump said Saturday he has not yet decided whether the firing squad execution of convicted Fort Hood gunman Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed, saying he will ultimately make a decision. Trump Weighs Livestream Execution DecisionThe Pentagon confirmed to Fox News Digital earlier this week that Hasan's execution is scheduled to be livestreamed on Dec. 3. Hasan is a former Army major convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others at Fort Hood in 2009. At the White House, Trump told reporters there are arguments on both sides. There are two thoughts: don't show it and show it, he said.Because by showing it, maybe other people won't be doing what he did. I'll make a decision ultimately, Trump added. Trump said he knows what the military would like to do, but he will make the final call. He described Hasan as a vicious killer who killed 13 people in cold blood and wounded over 20, saying some of those people will never have their lives back in a true sense. His comments came a day after he told reporters he absolutely approved the livestream plan announced earlier in the week. That plan has drawn skepticism and criticism from members of his own party. In a post on X, one critic wrote: I absolutely support the sentence of death, but live-streaming executions is what jihadists do. America is better than that.Another said an execution shouldn't be a live-streamed spectacle, adding the focus should be on justice for the victims and their families, not turning an execution into entertainment. Their pain deserves respect, not a public show. Others have defended the plan. Robert Jeffress, a prominent Trump ally and senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, said he supports the plan for a public killing.Military Aims To Set Example With ExecutionTrump also said during a Friday interview with CNY Central following a rally in Syracuse that he wasn't involved in the decision but understands it. He added that the military wanted the execution to serve as an example, and I understand that very well. Fox News Digital previously reported that Trump approved the use of an Army firing squad following a recommendation from War Secretary. Vice President JD Vance said Friday he wasn't sure whether the execution would be livestreamed.A veteran who was shot seven times in the Fort Hood massacre has a warning for Americans planning to watch the execution. The Bernie Beck Gate at Fort Hood was pictured at sunrise on Nov. 7, 2009, in Killeen, Texas, two days after the attack. If Hasan's execution is carried out, it would be the first conducted by the U.S. military since 1961 and the first military execution in more than six decades.
