President Trump Forecasts End to Iran Conflict
President Trump voiced confidence on Wednesday that the conflict with Iran is drawing to a close, predicting two to three weeks of heavy strikes from the United States. He stated, “We are going to finish the job. And we’re going to finish it very fast. We’re getting very close.”
Objectives of the Campaign
In a prime-time address to the nation, Trump outlined the objectives of the military campaign. These included destroying Iran’s navy, air force, and missile capabilities, preventing Iran from funding terrorist proxy groups, and preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Military Strength and Remembrance
“Our armed forces have been extraordinary. There’s never been anything like it,” the President declared. He also honored the 13 American service members killed in Iran’s retaliatory attacks.
Timeline and Severity of Strikes
Trump indicated an intensification of military action in the coming weeks. “We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks,” he said. He further stated, “We are going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong.”
Regime Change and Potential Consequences
While previously stating regime change was not a goal, Trump acknowledged that “regime change has occurred because all of their original leaders are dead.” He warned that failure by Iranian officials to meet U.S. terms would result in strikes on all of Iran’s electric generating plants.
Addressing Economic Concerns
The President addressed rising energy costs resulting from the conflict. He suggested that countries struggling with increased oil and gas prices should “buy oil from the United States of America.”
Strait of Hormuz and Oil Flow
Trump also urged countries to “go to the Strait and just take it, protect it, and use it for yourselves.” He predicted that once the conflict ends, the Strait of Hormuz would reopen naturally, allowing oil to flow and gas prices to decrease. “Iran has been essentially decimated. The hard part is done, so it should be easy,” he added.
