Trump Announces Reduced Iranian Threat
President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Iran is “essentially really no longer a threat” after a 32-day U.S. military campaign. He told Americans in a primetime address that the country had been “eviscerated” following weeks of strikes.
Further Strikes Planned Despite Progress
Despite this assessment, Trump indicated the United States is preparing for additional military action. He stated, “I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly.” He added that further attacks would occur “over the next 2 to 3 weeks,” aiming to “bring them back to the stone ages.”
Attacks on Nuclear Infrastructure
Trump highlighted U.S. attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, stating sites targeted by B-2 bombers were “obliterated.” He warned that any attempt by Tehran to recover nuclear material would result in additional strikes. “The nuclear sites that we obliterated with the B-2 bombers have been hit so hard that it would take months to get near the nuclear dust,” Trump said.
Concerns Over Uranium Stockpile
Key questions remain regarding the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, estimated to be between 900 and 1,000 pounds enriched to near weapons-grade levels, according to international estimates.
Impact on Global Energy Markets
The conflict has caused volatility in global energy markets and increased fuel costs for Americans. Trump directly addressed these concerns, blaming recent gasoline price increases on Iranian attacks targeting commercial shipping and regional infrastructure. “The short term increase has been entirely the result of the Iranian regime launching deranged terror attacks against commercial oil tankers and neighboring countries,” he stated.
Claims of Leadership Changes and Infrastructure Damage
Trump also asserted that Iran’s leadership structure has been fundamentally altered by the strikes, claiming senior figures have died. “We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leaders’ death. They’re all dead,” he said. He further claimed Iran’s air defenses have been eliminated, stating, “They have no anti-aircraft equipment. Their radar is 100% annihilated. We are unstoppable.”
Potential Targets for Future Attacks
If a deal is not reached, Trump warned that the U.S. would target Iran’s electric generating plants “very hard and probably simultaneously.”
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
