President Trump Addresses the Nation on Iran Conflict
President Donald Trump addressed the nation Wednesday evening, asserting that U.S. military operations against Iran are “nearing completion.” The address followed a joint U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran on February 28th, which has resulted in substantial casualties and widespread global economic consequences.
Operation Epic Fury: A Month of Military Action
The President highlighted the accomplishments of his administration in the Middle East, specifically focusing on Operation Epic Fury, launched one month prior. He described the operation as targeting “the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”
Details of Alleged Military Successes
President Trump stated that U.S. armed forces have achieved “swift, decisive, overwhelming victories” in the past four weeks. He claimed Iran’s navy has been eliminated, its air force is in ruins, and most of its leadership, described as “terrorist regimes,” have been killed.
According to the President, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ command and control capabilities are being “decimated,” and Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones has been significantly reduced. He further stated that Iranian weapons factories and rocket launchers have been largely destroyed.
“Never in the history of warfare has an enemy suffered such clear and devastating large-scale losses in a matter of weeks,” Trump said. He added, “The hard part is done.”
Casualties and Global Economic Impact
The U.S. and Israel initiated the attack on Iran on February 28th, leading to the deaths of Iran’s supreme leader and a dozen other leaders in the days that followed. Thousands of U.S. service members have been deployed to the Middle East, with 13 fatalities reported.
Economic Repercussions
The conflict has significantly impacted global markets. The average price of gasoline in the U.S. has risen to $4 per gallon, and businesses worldwide are facing challenges due to disruptions in shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
