Deputy Dennis Francis Mallinger faces one count of official oppression, a Class A misdemeanor, stemming from the incident that occurred Dec. 26 at a QuikTrip on West Whitestone Boulevard. According to the affidavit, the complainant had arranged to sell her vehicle at the gas station when Mallinger, in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle, approached her and the prospective buyer. After the buyer left, Mallinger allegedly blocked the woman's vehicle with his patrol unit, preventing her from leaving.Mallinger allegedly made sexual comments and repeatedly made unwanted physical contact with the woman. Surveillance footage from the store corroborated the woman's account, according to the affidavit. The woman told investigators she felt unable to leave because Mallinger was in uniform, armed, and had blocked her car. She said she feared reporting the incident through Travis County channels would alert Mallinger.We take matters of this nature very seriously. While Cedar Park Police Department conducts its investigation, TCSO is also conducting an Internal Affairs investigation.
