Tony D’Angelo Sets Sights on NXT Championship

WWE NXT star Tony D’Angelo is preparing for a challenging match at Stand & Deliver on Saturday night. He will compete in a fatal four-way match against NXT champion Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints, and Ethan Page, all vying for the title.

Reflecting on Past Betrayals

D’Angelo’s journey back to championship contention comes nearly a year after a significant betrayal at Stand & Deliver. His former stablemate, Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo, turned against him at the event. This led to the official dissolution of The Family in July.

A Fresh Start

D’Angelo returned to action in December with a revamped look and a renewed focus. He previously had the support of The Family, but now emphasizes self-reliance.

Learning from Past Mistakes

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, D’Angelo shared the lessons he learned from the fallout with The Family. “I learned that you can’t put all your faith and your trust in others,” he stated. “You got to go with your gut. I did that with The Family. I did it with ‘Stacks’ and then you saw how that turned out.”

He emphasized the importance of trusting one’s instincts, adding, “You got to trust your gut. Go with what you think is right and I think that can’t really lead you down the wrong path.”

Focused on a 'Path of Destruction'

Earlier this month, D’Angelo made it clear he was coming for Hendry and the championship. He demonstrated his readiness by defeating Cutler James and Dion Lennox at Vengeance Day.

Unwavering Confidence

D’Angelo told Fox News Digital he is completely focused on winning the championship. “I’m no stranger to it. I went to war with Ilja Dragunov in Stand & Deliver in Philly. I came up a little bit short on that one,” he said. “But, look, I am on a path of destruction right now, I don’t think there’s anything that’s gonna stop me from getting what I want and it’s the NXT Championship.”

He expressed confidence heading into the match, stating, “It feels good, but I’m not nervous. I don’t feel like I’m in deep waters right now. I feel like, I actually have the advantage in this one.”

Past Accomplishments

D’Angelo has a decorated history in NXT, having previously held the NXT North American Championship once, the NXT Tag Team Championship twice, and the Heritage Cup once.
