The Greatest Threat To One Piece's Final Villain Isn't Luffy, It's Chopper (No Seriously) Jason's love of storytelling encouraged him to study writing and earn a degree in filmmaking so that he could share that love with others. Demonic forces recently challenged One Piece's Straw Hat crew, but in a shocking twist, Elbaph's greatest threat was no match against whom many regard as the weakest pirate on Luffy's team. And author Eiichiro Oda is likely only laying the groundwork for a much bigger reveal ahead. The World Government's assault on the Giant's homeland of Elbaph got particularly hairy in a situation that threatened the past, current, and future generations of the intimidating race. Still, even with many of their strongest warriors possessed by demonic abilities, the pure-hearted Straw Hat doctor did a lot more damage than Luffy's strongest Gear 5 attacks. The Straw Hat's Purest Light Maybe Imu's Weakness The vile and secret Supreme Ruler of the World Government, Imu, demonstrated their horrific ability to possess formidable fighters with demonic-like shadow powers. Once turned, the victims are granted a power boost, regenerative abilities, and a cruel thirst for murder. While Zoro and several Giants discovered their own way of reclaiming their allies, Chopper found a much easier solution. After learning to control his large monster form, Chopper became a force of nature on One Piece's battlefields. He's had to rely on his brains and medical skills more often as the story's threats have continued to get stronger, but there is something strange about the Reindeer's powers that proved to be more super effective than a Pokémon's opposite type. Related Luffy is Secretly Helping One Piece's Greatest Villain Take Over the World, and Fans Completely Missed It The Straw Hats and Giants must defeat the Supreme Ruler of the World Government, but Luffy's actions might have unintended consequences. Posts By Jason Hon When forced to confront the turned Giants, Chopper took on his Monster form to defend himself. While others had to use overwhelming force to revert Imu’s Domi Reversi possession, Chopper only needed to deliver one strike. Something about Chopper causes Imu's demonic hold to surrender immediately after contact, and he’ll likely be even more helpful in One Piece’s final arc. Chopper's Devil Fruit Will Smack The Devil Out Of Ya There remain a lot of questions about the World Government’s secret ruler and their devilish powers. The terrifying powers have been a blight on places like God Valley and Elbaph, but the clash with the Straw Hats exposed multiple weaknesses against them. But Chopper's power might be the most effective tactic against Imu's powers that readers have seen so far. Chopper's Devil Fruit is currently classified as the Zoan-type: Human-Human Fruit. After eating the fruit, it granted the young ostrazied reindeer sentience, and after further study and chemical support, the ability to transform Chopper's body into several different forms. But Chopper's effectiveness against Imu's demonic powers might be a clue that his Devil Fruit powers are more than previously believed. Posts By Umair Nakade For decades, fans were told that Luffy used the Gum-Gum Fruit until Wano not only proved that to be false, but it also recontextualized Straw Hat Captain’s powers entirely. His legendary Devil Fruit contains the powers of the ancient Sun God Nika, who represented freedom. It wouldn’t be a stretch to discover if Chopper's Fruit is also something more. Chopper's Help Will Save The World After suffering a surprisingly quick defeat in chapter #1178, Imu's influence vanished from Elbaph. The chapter ended with a warning that the ruler himself would be leaving the World Government's HQ, which could mean that the Elbaph arc is not yet done. After saving the Giant children, protecting the ancient libraries' forbidden books, and disabling Imu's Holy Knights, the only thing left to do on Elbaph is to put out the fires started during battle. Imu may soon return to Elbaph with a vengeance, where Chopper's mysterious strength can be further tested and explored. Author Eiichiro Oda has a habit of throwing fans off with fantastic twists that play with readers’ expectations, so there is a chance that Imu is going somewhere other than Elbaph. Either way, Chopper’s help will be needed in One Piece’s final arc, where hopefully more information about the fan-favorite character can be revealed.
