For all the talk of new faces and potential blockbuster trades, Nick Sirianni and Howie Roseman continue to emphasize the talent already on the roster. Jalen Hurts' play, and the evolution of the things Nick Sirianni and Co. believe he does best, will be critical in 2026.PHOENIX — As of Monday, the Eagles were slated to return a projected 10 of 11 starters on offense. The numbers were the same a year ago, and that was considered a positive coming off a But the unit regressed in 2025, and getting the band back together for one last potential run may not be viewed the same way, despite the pedigree of several players who may or may not be in decline.said on Sunday. “I think one is bringing the band back together was also, a year ago, the team that won a world championship. I think that we all agree — and this is not to be critical of anyone — that being 20th in points scored isn’t really the standard that we’re looking to set.The additions, though, will be supplemental unless a starter is moved. The most obvious — and talked about — would be tradingNick Sirianni says Eagles staff is likely moving on without longtime O-line coach Jeff Stoutland Last month before and at the combine, they said they weren’t inclined to part with great players like Brown, but wouldn’t close the door on listening to offers. This time around, after weeks of reports and speculation about the mercurial receiver’s future, Roseman and Sirianni simply stated the obvious — that Brown is still an Eagle. That is a fact. For now. But Sirianni didn’t answer whether Brown would show for the start of voluntary offseason workouts on April 20 — when he has long been a regular attendee — and the Eagles did little to quell a growing sense from league insiders that a trade has become more of an inevitability than an uncertainty. “Nothing’s changed there. A.J. is an Eagle,” Sirianni said on Monday at the Biltmore Hotel. “Nothing’s changed from the last time I spoke to you guys. And, yeah, that’s where we are.”While much has been made of Brown’s perceived desire to play elsewhere, Roseman wouldn’t be open to the possibility unless it benefited the Eagles. That could come in the form of draft compensation, and eventual salary cap relief, but also in getting ahead of an aging player’s descent. Brown turns 29 in June. The GM must weigh all those variables when making a final decision. And he must be prepared to take on a $43.5 million dead money hit — whether it comes all in 2026 or is split over the next two years with a post-June 1 trade — even if he will also save $133.1 million in totality in the remaining years of Brown’s contract. That’s a lot of long-term gain for short-term pain, and if it’s an actuality, could alter expectations for this season with a first-time offensive coordinator implementing a new scheme. But Roseman — and especially Sirianni — won’t settle for taking a step back. And trading Brown still doesn’t solve the immediate need to find someone to fill his big cleats. Perhaps receiverThe Eagles have been pumping up Smith this offseason, maybe in anticipation of moving him up the pecking order. But Brown still draws defensive attention, even if it became increasingly clear last season that he’s losing inches in separation. Some of that may have been a lack of effort stemming from frustration with the quarterback and the offense, but there is also the specter of a nearing expiration date for knees that have given Brown problems during his career. It may seem counterproductive to move on from a great player, but Brown leaving could offer Roseman his only chance to alter the makeup of the personnel on offense. That could come in the form of draft picks. This year’s crop of receiver prospects is said to be deep. A tight end could also be in play. But the Eagles can’t be wishing and hoping that rookies will step into prominent roles. Roseman did sign free agent Hollywood Brown to replace Jahan Dotson as the third receiver. It’s an upgrade on paper, but a lesser spot in the starting lineup.and Co. returning to at least the mean of how they performed over the previous five seasons will have to do the heavy lifting for now, if not new offensive coordinator Sirianni was asked about a learning curve, not only for Mannion, but for the players. He said that there will be some changes both in plays and terminology. But he also said there will be carryover. The most amount of effort will be spent on the “how-to-do-it portion,” as Sirianni labeled it. “I don’t care if it’s scheme A, scheme B, scheme C, the job description has to be very clear,” Sirianni said. “This is the requirement of what we want you to do on each and every play vs. each and every look. Then you show them what that looks like and then you’re relentless on coming back to it when it meets it, or whether it doesn’t meet it. ‘A.J. Brown is a member of the Eagles’: Howie Roseman’s mantra on star wideout unlikely to quiet speculation Hurts, once again, will have the most to learn. He will be working with his sixth different play-caller in his last six seasons. Sirianni said he’s had contact and conversations with his quarterback, but they haven’t delved deep into football for various reasons. “Right now we’re limited in what we can talk to them about and everything like that,” Sirianni said, “but I think it’s really important that get some time.” The biggest changes in the passing game will likely come with more plays from under center and more usage of play action. The Eagles have had among the lowest rates in both categories during the Sirianni-Hurts era. They utilized under center, play action against the Vikings in Week 7 of last season and were explosive. But the offense was inconsistent both in its employment and effectiveness for the rest of the season, despite Hurts’ improvement in those areas. “I think back to the Minnesota game this year where we had a lot of play-action passes, and he has the perfect passer rating,” Sirianni said. “He’s been very effective over the years with play-action passes and with the boot game.”The most significant alterations with Mannion’s implementation of the Shanahan system will come in the run game. The scheme is built from the ground up and the Eagles have shown with Hurts that when their offense is at its best, it’s been run-based. It’s going to look different under Mannion, new run game coordinator Ryan Mahaffey, and offensive line coach Chris Kuper. There will be more wide zone run blocking. There will be more involvement from the tight ends, which necessitated the signing of blocking tight end Johnny Mundt. Howie Roseman announced an edge rusher signing to kick off the NFL meetings. He’s probably not done at that position. “Not even to say that we’re not going to do some of the things that we’ve done in the past, but this brings a different dynamic,” Sirianni said of the new offense. “In some of the cases in the play-action pass game, there’s more full slides, there’s different things like that. “There’s more with tight ends protecting that where we’ve done in the past. All those different things can help out a tackle.”Roseman said having healthier players this year vs. last was another reason to expect the offense to rebound, with many of the same players returning. Dickerson and Jurgens both traveled to Colombia over the last month to receive stem cell treatment for specific body ailments. But mostly the Eagles are counting on the group’s collective body of work in both ambition and deed — whether Brown returns or not — to make sure that last season was an anomaly more than the start of the trend. “I know how hungry these guys are going to come back because of how much they love football and how competitive they are,” Sirianni said. “The football IQ and the toughness, and you bet on
