Texas Woman Charged in Child Sex Assault Case Involving Doctor A Texas woman, Alicia Evonne Sanchez, was arrested and charged with taking a child under 14 to be sexually assaulted by Dr. Kenneth Donald Haygood in exchange for Adderall. A Texas woman has been arrested and charged with delivering a child under the age of 14 to a doctor for repeated sexual assaults in exchange for prescription medication. Alicia Evonne Sanchez, 37, also known as Alicia Evonne Seguin, was taken into custody by Smith County Sheriff deputies on Wednesday. Authorities allege she brought the child to the Tyler, Texas practice of Dr. Kenneth Donald Haygood, 56, at least ten times and remained in the room while the assaults occurred. Allegations of Repeated AbuseAccording to reports, the child would cry and beg for Haygood to stop, but was told by Sanchez that this is what doctors do. The doctor allegedly supplied Sanchez with the prescription stimulant Adderall, which she would place in a clear baggie. Authorities say Sanchez told the child the pills were for people who could not get them from their doctor. The investigation led to Sanchez's arrest on Wednesday. She faces a charge of continuous sexual assault of a child under 14, which carries a potential sentence of up to 99 years to life if convicted.Doctor's Plea Deal and SentenceDr. Kenneth Donald Haygood is currently serving eight years in prison for sex crimes after striking a plea deal last September. In his plea agreement, Haygood admitted to two counts of sexually assaulting two female patients. Other felony charges, including sexually assaulting a child, were dropped, resulting in a lighter sentence.Assistant District Attorney Richard Vance said at the time that Haygood probably deserved more than eight years. He explained that the deal was approved to spare the victims from taking the stand and having to publicly discuss details nobody would ever want to talk about.Potential Sentencing DisparityIf convicted, Sanchez could face a far harsher punishment than the doctor who committed the assaults. While Haygood received eight years, Sanchez faces up to 99 years to life for the charge of continuous sexual assault of a child under 14.The case highlights a significant disparity in sentencing outcomes. The charges against Sanchez stem from her alleged role in facilitating the abuse and accepting prescription medication as payment.Smith County authorities continue to investigate the case. The child involved in the assaults is under 14 years old, and the abuse reportedly occurred at Haygood's practice in Tyler, Texas.
