First Look at Trump's Proposed Miami Presidential Library
A striking, newly released animated video offers the public its first glimpse of the proposed Donald J. Trump Presidential Library in downtown Miami. President Donald Trump shared the video on Truth Social early Tuesday, revealing renderings of the ambitious project.
The proposal features a soaring waterfront skyscraper designed to house the museum and library space. Eric Trump, who is leading the development, posted the video on X, describing the structure as a "lasting testament" to his father's legacy.
Eric Trump Champions the Landmark Project
Eric Trump stated that he has dedicated significant effort to the project over the last six months with his team. He characterized the planned waterfront landmark as a tribute to "an amazing man, an amazing developer, and the greatest President our Nation has ever known."
Eric Trump serves as president and a trustee of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, overseeing the development efforts. The foundation’s other trustees include Michael Boulos, Tiffany Trump’s husband, and attorney James Kiley.
Design Details of the Towering Structure
Set to dramatic orchestral music, the video begins with aerial views of the landscaped grounds, showing palm-lined walkways, fountains, and green spaces surrounding the site. The centerpiece revealed is a tall glass tower crowned with a spire.
The facade of the skyscraper prominently displays the name "Trump" in gold lettering, with a large American flag draped down the center. Inside, renderings depict military aircraft exhibits and a grand auditorium featuring a towering gold statue of Donald Trump, a stage, and large digital displays.
Inside the Museum Complex
The design incorporates replicas of significant spaces from Trump's tenure in the White House. These planned inclusions feature the Oval Office, the West Colonnade, and a dedicated ballroom space.
Further details show a presidential plane resembling Air Force One situated on the ground floor. The interior also showcases gold escalators, reminiscent of those found in New York City's Trump Tower.
Location and Land Acquisition Details
The presidential library is slated to be designed by the Miami-based architecture and engineering firm Bermello Ajamil. The project will occupy a roughly 2.6-acre waterfront parcel.
In late September, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet approved the transfer of the Biscayne Boulevard parcel to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation. The site is near Trump National Doral.
Legal Hurdles and Site Context
The land transfer faced a brief legal challenge after a federal judge issued a pause, but the process was allowed to proceed in December. The parcel is currently utilized as an employee parking lot for Miami-Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.
The site is adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower, a significant symbol of the city’s immigrant heritage, which once aided thousands of Cubans fleeing communism. The location boasts waterfront views facing the Kaseya Center and Dodge Island, a major cruise liner docking area.
Financial Implications and Political Context
Media reports indicate the parcel was appraised at over $66 million. However, The New York Times cited a real estate consultant suggesting the land could sell for a minimum of $360 million.
Donald Trump’s social media post included a link soliciting donations for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation. This unveiling occurs as former President Barack Obama’s presidential center in Chicago is scheduled to open in June.
