A Piece of Tech History: Luxury iPhone with Steve Jobs' Turtleneck
Caviar, a company specializing in luxury iPhones, has unveiled its Apple 50th Anniversary Collection. This exclusive line features three custom iPhones, with one model incorporating a unique and costly element: a fragment of fabric purportedly from a turtleneck worn by Steve Jobs.
The Iconic Turtleneck and Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, passed away on October 5, 2011, due to complications from a pancreatic tumor. He was renowned for transforming Apple into a global powerhouse and was almost always seen on stage sporting a simple black turtleneck. This garment has become as iconic as other famous fashion staples.
The Fabric's Origin Story
The piece of fabric embedded in the iPhone is said to originate from the turtleneck Jobs wore during the introduction of the NeXT computer in 1988. Caviar claims the fabric has been authenticated. The tiny square is located within the Apple logo on the phone’s case.
iPhone 17 Pro Models and Pricing
Caviar is offering two versions of this exclusive phone: the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both models are available with storage options of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB.
Cost and Availability
The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $9,630 for the base 256 GB model. The top-of-the-line iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2 TB of storage carries a price tag of $11,560. Delivery is free, but taxes and customs duties are additional, potentially adding $40 to $200 depending on the buyer’s location.
Customers should anticipate a wait time of one to four months for delivery, as each phone is made to order after production is completed. Each purchase includes a certificate of authenticity and a one-year warranty.
A Collector's Item
Caviar describes the phone as a “museum-worthy collector’s piece,” suggesting it may be best preserved rather than used as a daily device. This limited-edition iPhone aims to capture a piece of Apple’s history for dedicated collectors.
