Two individuals were injured after a small plane crashed in Fluehr Park, located on the 4800 block of Grant Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, on Tuesday, October 24th. The incident occurred shortly after 3:40 p.m., according to police reports.
Emergency Landing Attempt
Initial investigations indicate the aircraft experienced a loss of power mid-flight. The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing within Fluehr Park, but unfortunately struck a tree during the process.
Details of the Aircraft
The plane involved in the crash has been identified as a Lancair 235, a fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft designed for two occupants. Witnesses at the scene described observing the white plane with a visibly broken wing, and noted the front of the aircraft impacted a small tree.
Rescue and Medical Response
Upon arrival, first responders found one person already outside the plane. Another individual was initially trapped inside the aircraft but was successfully freed by emergency personnel. Both the pilot and the passenger were conscious and are expected to be transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Police confirmed that both individuals were conscious after the crash. The extent of their injuries has not been released at this time.
