Holiday horror continues to be a popular genre, with recent successes like Terrifier 3 and Thanksgiving. The 2025 remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night, directed by Mike P. Nelson, adds to this tradition.

A Bloody Refresh of a Cult Classic

Released in theaters by Cineverse in December 2025, the remake reimagines the 1984 film, focusing on Billy Chapman’s descent into violence. Billy, haunted by witnessing his parents’ murder by a Santa-clad assailant, seeks vengeance by becoming a killer himself.

The Story of Billy Chapman

The film follows Billy as he embarks on a bloody rampage, donning a Santa suit to punish those he deems deserving. However, his path takes an unexpected turn when he meets Pam, who challenges him to abandon his violent course.

Streaming Release and Bonus Content

Screambox will stream the Bloody Disgusting-produced film beginning April 28th. Viewers will also have access to exclusive bonus content, including a featurette titled “Slaying Season” and a blooper reel.

Cast and Critical Reception

Rohan Campbell, known for his roles in Halloween Ends and The Monkey, leads the cast, alongside Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. The remake has been generally well-received, earning a 78% “Certified Fresh” rating from critics and a 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite a 5/10 review from Collider’s Shawn Van Horn, who praised Campbell’s performance as “a case of perfect casting,” the film is considered a worthwhile update to the controversial original. The film earned $5.6 million at the box office.

The April Screambox lineup also includes Season 17 of Bloody Bites and the horror-comedy Kenneled.
