Screenwriter accuses Richard Curtis of forgetting him over Beatles musical Yesterday American screenwriter Jack Barth says Richard Curtis and his wife Emma Freud 'systematically scrubbed' his contribution to the musical Yesterday and took it to the West End without contacting him. American screenwriter Jack Barth claims Richard Curtis and his wife Emma Freud 'systematically scrubbed' his contribution to the musical Yesterday and are now taking it to the West End without contacting him. Barth says that although he initially accepted Curtis had transformed his original concept into a romantic comedy, he now wants his contribution publicly recognized and a renegotiation of his profit participation. Barth's work, called Cover Version, tells the story of a musician who discovers he is the only person alive who remembers The Beatles and passes their songs off as his own. He developed a screenplay with help from actor and director Danny Boyle.Barth claims that only a 'shockingly low' fixed payment is due to him for the stage adaptation of Yesterday and that he will receive no share of its profits. The couple, along with the production company Working Title behind Curtis's hits Four Weddings And A Funeral and Notting Hill, have not commented on the claims.
