Two brothers who grew up honing their football skills in Carlsbad, California, are set to share the same city as their careers take parallel paths in Columbus, Ohio. Quarterbacks Aidan and Julian Sayin are reuniting in Columbus, marking a significant convergence in their respective football journeys.
Divergent Paths Lead to Columbus Reunion
Aidan and Julian both pursued careers as quarterbacks, but their early college paths sent them in different directions. Julian established himself as the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus. Meanwhile, Aidan played college football for the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Aidan’s next career move has brought him back to his younger brother’s city. He recently signed to play quarterback for the Columbus Aviators, a professional team.
Excitement Over Shared City
Aidan expressed immense enthusiasm about the unexpected reunion. “It seemed almost too good to be true,” Aidan stated. “I was super pumped, especially being in Columbus with my brother at Ohio State.”
Julian is preparing for his second season as the signal caller for the Buckeyes. Aidan is eager to begin his professional career in the same city where his younger brother competes at the collegiate level.
The Bond Forged Through Football
The brothers share a deep connection, largely fostered by their shared passion for football. Aidan emphasized the importance of their shared athletic history.
“We’re super close,” Aidan commented. “I mean, especially through football, being able to work out and train and develop together through the years has been such a bonding experience for us.” He added, “Love him to death, and I’m super supportive of what he does, and he does the same for me.”
Supporting Each Other’s Journeys
Aidan’s college career at Penn was unfortunately cut short following a UCL tear that required Tommy John surgery. He spent the past year focusing on rehabilitation and interning at a real estate agency in Los Angeles.
During his recovery, Aidan frequently traveled to Columbus to support Julian by attending Buckeye games. Now, the roles will reverse as Julian gets the chance to attend Aidan’s professional games.
“He didn’t get to come to many of my Penn games because he was playing high school football,” Aidan recalled. “He would always come during his bye week in high school, but it’ll be fun now that he’ll get to come to a full season and see the Aviators.”
Upcoming Season Details
The Columbus Aviators have already commenced their season, having opened on March 29 against the Orlando Storm. Their first home game is scheduled for Friday against the DC Defenders.
