A woman was taken into custody in Rochester following an incident involving gunfire in the city's Beechwood area early on Monday morning. The event prompted a swift police response and subsequent traffic stop.
Shots Fired in Beechwood Neighborhood
Authorities were alerted to the situation via a ShotSpotter notification at approximately 1:30 a.m. The location was identified as Garson Avenue, near the intersection with Webster Avenue.
Officers confirmed that shots had been discharged at the scene. Fortunately, investigators determined that the gunfire did not result in injuries to any individuals or damage to any structures.
Arrest Following Traffic Stop
Approximately one mile from the initial scene, police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle matching a suspect description. The stop occurred at the corner of East Main and Scio Streets.
The driver, a woman in her thirties, was found in possession of a handgun. Furthermore, two children, aged eight and ten, were present in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
The driver now faces several charges, including criminal possession of a weapon, prohibited use of a weapon, and endangerment of a child's welfare.

Separately, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported a major traffic incident on Interstate 590 on Monday. The crash involved a total of 11 vehicles.
Despite the large number of vehicles involved, officials confirmed that no serious injuries resulted from the collision.
