A Rochester woman has been acquitted of second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of her stepfather. The verdict was delivered by a jury on Wednesday, bringing an end to the formal legal proceedings.

The case stemmed from an incident that occurred on August 27, 2025, in Rochester’s Maplewood neighborhood. 49-year-old Gary Morgan was stabbed multiple times at the intersection of Dewey and Driving Park avenues and later died at St. Mary's Medical Campus.

Keyanna Richards was arrested following the stabbing. At the time of her arrest, authorities also revealed she had two outstanding felony warrants – one from Sangamon County, Illinois, for a burglary causing injury, and another from Polk County, Florida, for burglary with assault/battery.
