Margaret Josephs, a prominent figure on The Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ), recently disclosed details regarding a nose job she underwent and kept private for several months. The 58-year-old reality star shared her journey in an interview published by People on Tuesday, March 31.
Why Margaret Josephs Chose a Nose Job
Josephs explained that changes in her appearance due to aging prompted her decision to seek cosmetic surgery. She admitted that the alterations to her nose were becoming a significant source of frustration.
“It was making me nuts,” Josephs told the publication. She observed that her nose appeared larger or that the tip drooped noticeably when she smiled in photographs.
Comparing current photos to pictures from her younger years, she noted that her face was fuller and her nose looked different previously. Ultimately, she concluded that the current appearance was “not working.”
Seeking Subtle Perfection and Finding the Right Surgeon
The designer emphasized her desire for results that were “very subtle.” She eventually found a surgeon in Los Angeles in whom she felt confident to achieve her desired look.
“ was great,” Josephs stated. She recalled conducting the initial consultation via Zoom before deciding, “I'm totally flying to L.A. to get it done.”
The Healing Process and Public Reveal
Josephs candidly shared that her recovery involved “brutal” bruising. She intentionally kept the surgery hidden from the public and most of her friends until March 4.
On that date, she shared images of her results on Instagram, humorously referring to the procedure. “No one wants a droopy tip… some might call it a rhinoplasty, I call it a ‘nasal rejuvenation’,” Josephs captioned her healing photos.
Clarifying the Motivation for 'Nasal Rejuvenation'
Josephs clarified that she had never disliked her nose earlier in life and never anticipated undergoing a rhinoplasty. However, she noted that aging caused the cartilage in her nose to lose support for the tip.
This lack of support emphasized a slight bump she already had, which became increasingly bothersome in every photograph. She explained, “Every photo of me I really noticed it and it bothered me.”
She credited Dr. Gary Motykie for the procedure, stating, “I went to @drgarymotykie for a slight tweak and now my nose fits my face so perfectly and no one can quite put their finger on why… not even my family members!”
Furthermore, Josephs revealed that her facial work extended beyond her nose. She mentioned receiving a “fat transfer and stem cells” in her face, explaining this was done “to restore volume in the face too.”
