Two British sisters have alleged they were raped by two men after meeting them on the Greek island of Rhodes on April 27th. Local police have arrested the suspects and initiated a full investigation into the claims.
Details of the Alleged Assault
The 18 and 19-year-old sisters reported that they met the two British men at a nightclub in Rhodes’ historic medieval town. The group spent several hours together, socializing and consuming alcohol.
According to the sisters’ account, they went to a hotel near the nightclub with the men. They were then separated and placed in separate rooms with each of the suspects. The sisters allege they were sexually assaulted in these rooms after initially consenting to return to the hotel.
Police Response and Investigation
Following the sisters’ report, Rhodes authorities launched a swift investigation. The two suspects, believed to be brothers, were quickly identified and arrested by the Rhodes crime investigation unit.
A formal legal case has been initiated against the men. Authorities are currently gathering evidence, including witness testimonies, CCTV footage, and forensic examinations, to support the allegations.
Previous Incident on Kos
This incident follows a similar case on the island of Kos in October. A 42-year-old hotel employee was arrested following allegations of rape made by a 45-year-old British tourist.
The victim reported the assault occurred in her hotel room at approximately 7:00 PM on a Monday evening, alleging the employee exploited her impaired state after she had been drinking alcohol. The suspect is currently detained pending court appearance.
Ongoing Investigations and Support
Greek authorities are treating these incidents with seriousness and are committed to tourist safety. They are urging anyone with information related to either case to come forward.
Support services are being provided to the alleged victims to help them cope with the trauma. The investigations are ongoing.
